The Sharpen effect increases the contrast in an image.  It produces the opposite effect of Soft Focus.  You should use the Sharpen feature to fix photos that are slightly out of focus.  To use this feature, select Effects from the Photo menu and then select Sharpen.

 

If you don’t like the way that your photo looks with the Sharpen feature enabled, select Undo Sharpen from the Edit menu.
